This Bar Association – as well as the German Federal Bar Association (Bundesrechtsanwaltskammer, BRAK) – is competent for conciliation and arbitration (ombudsman). Complaints can be sent to the postal address mentioned above. A description of the procedure can be found on the respective website of the Bar Association.

The relevant professional regulations for lawyers are i.e.

• Federal Lawyers’ Act (Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung – BRAO)
• Rules of Professional Practice for Lawyers (Berufsordnung für Rechtsanwälte – BORA)
• Regulations relating to accredited specialist lawyers (Fachanwaltsordnung – FAO)
• Lawyers’ Fees Act (Rechtsanwaltsvergütungsgesetz – RVG) and Code of Conduct for European Lawyers (CCBE).

These professional regulations for lawyers are listed on the website of the German Federal Bar Association (www.brak.de) or in the online collection of German legislation provided by the German Federal Ministry of Justice (www.gesetze-im-internet.de).

The European Commission offers an online dispute resolution for consumers (http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/).

Please note that we do not participate in the dispute resolution before a consumer dispute resolution body.

Professional Liability Insurance Policies have been taken out for all attorneys. The attorneys are covered by Allianz Versicherungs AG, D-80802 München.

The policies cover professional activities in all member states of the European Union.
